History | The Faculty of Fine Arts, which was established within the body of Iğdır University on 14.11.2011 with the decision of the Council of Ministers with the decision number 2011/2471, started the infrastructure work of the Musicology Department in 2014 and started to accept its students with the exam held in the 2020-2021 academic year. He continues his academic studies with 2 Assc. Prof.Dr., 2 Lecturers and 1 Research Assistant at Şehit Bülent Yurtseven Campus. | Qualification Awarded | Musicology Bachelor's Degree | Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) | First Cycle | Specific Admission Requirements | Have a high school graduation diploma; To comply with the conditions specified in the Special Talent Examination directive of the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Fine Arts of Iğdır University; To be successful in the Special Talent Exam. | Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | For lateral transfers to the faculty, the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer published in the Official Gazette dated 24.4.2010 and numbered 27561 are applied.
In vertical transitions; The provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education of Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs published in the Official Gazette dated 19.2.202 and numbered 24676 are applied.
The provisions of the Regulation on Obtaining Associate Degree Diplomas or Adaptation to Vocational Schools of those who have not completed or cannot complete their undergraduate education, published in the Official Gazette dated 18.3.11989 and numbered 20112, shall apply to the transition of those who did not or could not complete their undergraduate education to vocational schools.
The provisions of the Higher Education Executive Board Decision of 08/01/2015 regarding the implementation principles of the Council of Higher Education are applied. | Qualification Requirements and Regulations | A total of 240 ECTS is applied in 4 Years - 8 Semesters in the program where education and training is implemented with the course passing system.
Iğdır University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations published in the Official Gazette dated 18.10.2020 and numbered 31278 are applied. | Profile of The Programme | The Department of Musicology aims to train Music Science Specialists that our country needs. It provides the teaching of the methods and techniques necessary for the examination of music as an artistic and cultural phenomenon and the cultural accumulation on the subject. It includes various field courses organized within the framework of the Bologna Curriculum of our department, which provides 4-year Turkish education after the Special Talent Exams. The purpose of the program is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for a musicologist within the framework of the interdisciplinary structure of the field of musicology, who knows the way to reach the information, has the awareness of research and development, follows the scientific and technological innovations in his field, and has acquired the knowledge and skills both at national and international level. To train individuals who can adapt according to sectoral requirements, who are active and open to interaction with the principle of lifelong learning, who understand and develop the environment they live in. | Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | Graduates of the undergraduate program of the Department of Musicology become musicologists. They specialize in areas such as music writer, music critic, program producer, music-related assignments in units affiliated to local governments or ministries of culture, art consultancy in public and private institutions, music education, folklore and ethnomusicology research in written and visual media. In addition, those who study in the field of Music Sciences can develop their expertise in line with their special interests and orientations and work as Music Producer, Sound Designer, Arranger, Studio Musician, etc. as they can work in areas where sound is processed industrially; Music Sociology, Music Philosophy, Cultural Musicology, Archeomusicology etc. They will have the opportunity to perform academic duties by rising intellectually in their fields. | Access to Further Studies | Graduates of the Musicology Program have the right to continue their higher education in the fields they wish, provided that they fulfill the required conditions.
