Civil Engineering department was established in 2008 under Engineering Faculty of Iğdır University. In the academic year of 2015 -16 the department started to accept students. |

Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
In order to graduate from the program students must complete minimum 163 credits course work which is equal to 240 ECTS, including compulsory, technical and non-technical elective courses. Students must complete 60 workdays long training period as an intern in public or private corporations accepted by Civil Engineering department. Training periods must be completed between 4th and 8th semesters. Moreover, it is obligatory for students to deliver two graduation projects under supervision of a lecturer at 4th year (7th and 8th semesters). As a wide range of subjects are included in Civil Engineering, it is required to get specialized in many areas. These major disciplines include environmental engineering, geotechnics, city planning engineering, coastal engineering, land survey, structural engineering, foundation engineering, hydraulic engineering, materials science and transportation engineering. The main objectives of Civil Engineering department of Iğdır University are to raise engineers with the following qualifications:
To apply main engineering science to engineering problems with an innovative consideration;
To have multidisciplinary technical and scientific knowledge in order to collaborate with other engineering disciplines;
To have sense of design, experiment and analysis to support sustainable development;

Civil Engineering is a constituent and basic engineering branch. Every subject of Civil Engineering is area of employment for undergraduate students.
The graduates have the opportunity to work mainly in infrastructure services, construction, public works, planning, energy, environment, forest and transportation in state institutions and organizations and industry. Regarding the conditions of our country, these sectors have an important place in economic perspective. Accordingly, well-educated and specialized Civil engineers are required to develop these sectors and reach them to a competitive level with developed countries.

Facilities |
The department consists of 14 fulltime academic staff, of which 3 are professors, 3 is associate professor, 3 are assistant professors, 5 research assistants. All faculty members of the department have laptops and printers; there is internet connection in every room. The Department prepares students for a competitive work environment with research labs and classrooms all fully equipped with projection machines including the internet connection in all rooms. Besides, in the department there are various clubs concerning public administration and related issue. Students can take a part in the activities of these clubs. The symposiums, congresses and panels that are organized on various subjects enable the students to expand their knowledge. In addition to that, students have a chance to participate in activities like football, basketball, volleyball etc. |
