Objectives of the Course
This course will primarily concentrate on structural systems, on the analysis of statically determinate structures, the construction of internal force diagrams, the construction and use of influence lines, the calculation of deflections. The course gives students an understanding of the importance of structural analysis and the tools available to determine the response of statically determinate structures to constant and moving loads. In addition, the course focus on the analysis of statically indeterminate structures by the Force Method.
Name of Lecturer(s)
Prof. Dr. Rüstem Gül
Learning Outcomes
1Develop basic ability to analyze structures.
2Determine the structural behavior according to applied loads.
3Develop skills in the analysis of complex structural systems by decomposition into simpler substructures.
4Develop basic ability to calculate deflections in structures.
5Develop a basic understanding of the behavior of members of structures with particular emphasis on the design of beams and columns.
