General Description
|
|
History | Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 2008 under the Faculty of Engineering of Iğdır University. The department received its first students in the 2019-2020 academic year and still operates together with the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory. | Qualification Awarded | Bachelor's Degree | Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) | First Cycle | Specific Admission Requirements | In order to enroll in the program, it is necessary to have at least a high school graduate or an international equivalent degree. Students are accepted to the program based on the Higher Education Institutions Exam (LYS) administered by ÖSYM or an international equivalent exam. Admission conditions and other useful information for international students can be found in Iğdır University Associate Degree-Undergraduate International Student Application, Admission and Registration Directive. | Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | Information regarding the evaluation of the previous education in another higher education institution in the country or abroad is specified in the Regulations for Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination of Iğdır University. | Qualification Requirements and Regulations | In order to graduate from this program, a total of 240 ECTS in-field and non-field course load must be completed. In the Mechanical Engineering program, after the end of the sophomore spring semester (4th semester), it is required to complete an internship of 60 working days until graduation (8th semester). Internships are recommended to be done in public institutions and organizations and private sector organizations accepted by the department. In order to graduate from the program, the student has to prepare two graduation projects under the supervision of the advisor. Graduation project work will be prepared as a thesis in the seventh and eighth semesters. While determining the success criteria of the students in the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program, the principles specified in Iğdır University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations are taken into account. | Profile of The Programme | There is a need to specialize in various branches in Mechanical Engineering. The main disciplines in this field are; energy, thermodynamics, machine theory and dynamics, Construction and Manufacturing, Mechanics, Materials and Automotive. Iğdır University Mechanical Engineering program aims to train Mechanical engineers in the basic subjects of Mechanical Engineering in line with the following objectives: 1) To be able to apply basic engineering knowledge to engineering problems within the framework of an innovative understanding; 2) To have technical and scientific knowledge to produce joint projects with different engineering disciplines; 3) To have all kinds of design, experiment and analysis skills for projects that can support sustainable development; 4) To be able to apply the acquired professional knowledge to current engineering problems with ethical and professional responsibility awareness; 5) Adopting lifelong learning as a principle, to have the ability to adapt to the technological developments required by the profession. | Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | Graduates of the program have the opportunity to work in public institutions and organizations and private sector organizations in a wide range of areas, including infrastructure, energy, iron and steel, automotive, production, chemistry, heating and air conditioning, food and textile fields, R&D activities, and transportation. Some of the public institutions where program graduates can be employed are: Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, İller Bankası General Directorate, General Directorate of Highways, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, Special Provincial Administrations and TUBITAK. | Access to Further Studies | Individuals who successfully complete their undergraduate education are entitled to apply to graduate programs by obtaining a valid grade from the ALES exam requested by the relevant department and a valid grade from the foreign language exam. QF-EHEA: 3 EQF-LLL:8 | Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading | The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the “Course Information Package” prepared by the academic members .
