Igdir University Iğdır Vocational High School Travel-Tourism and Recreation Services Department Tourist Guiding Program began taking students in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Qualification Awarded |
Students, who completed this 2 (two) year-programme successfully, have associate degree diploma and "professional staff" degree related to Tourist Guiding area. After graduation, students participate in Turkey or region tour which is mandated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. After having been successful in the foreign language exams administered by OSYM or the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, they have got the Professional Tourist Guide Certificate of Registration and Work Card (Kokart).

Specific Admission Requirements |
Admission & Registration Requirements are subject to Educational Directions which are accepted by Iğdır University Senate. Besides, students should have high schools or their equivalents diploma and have enough degree from student selection examination for university. |
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
Recognition of Prior Learning process in Turkish Higher Education Institutions, vertical and lateral transfers in university are held within a scope of "REGULATION ABOUT TRANSFER BETWEEN ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMME AND UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, CREDIT TRANSFER BETWEEN INSTITUTINONS WITH DOUBLE MAJOR AND SUB-SPECIALTY" which is defined by Higher Education Instıtutıon. In Turkey, except for formal education institutions, recognition of in-formal and non-formal education, which are depended on certificate and experience, is infant. Therefore, recognition of prior learning is not fully initialized in all programmes of Iğdır Universty. |

An associate degree in Tourist Guiding program, students must take in order to achieve the compulsory and elective courses ( a total of 120 ECTS credits) and successfully complete all GPA of 4.00 must have a GPA of at least 2.0. We also completed the internship must be 30 working days. |
Profile of The Programme |
The purpose of the program is to equip the students with the professional knowledge necessary to become professional tourist guides, to equip the students with all the infrastructure knowledge of the tourism sector and to ensure that they are taken into business life after the training. Foreign language education, which is the general building stone of the tourism sector, is mainly given during the training. In addition, they learn from many experienced and specialized trainers (mythology, archeology, Turkish museums and antique cities, tourism geography, etc.) that they will need in their professional life during their high school education period theoretically and practically.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples |
Students, who completed Tourist Guiding Programme successfully, have employment opportunities in independent tourist guiding, tourist guiding connected to travel agency, travel agency manager, travel agency information officer, museum guide, If they meet the foreign language proficiency requirements imposed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Those who have enough points from the Public Personnel Selection Exam also have employment opportunities in public institutions and organizations. Apart from these, they will have employment opportunities in the middle or top level managerial positions in any of the tourism enterprises, especially in the travel businesses.

Access to Further Studies |
The students who successfully complete the 2 year associate degree can take the DGS examination and they are able to transfer to the undergraduate programs of Travel Management, Travel Management and Tourism Guidance, Tourism Guidance and Tourism Management. Transition students are exempted from the courses they have taken in the associate degree program, from the ones they have passed through in terms of content and credit. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Examinations, measurement and evaluation of courses are held in line with the Association- Undergraduation Degree Education and Examination Regulations of Iğdır University. In order to be successful from the courses, one midterm exam and one final exam is given for each course and two exams are held. 40% of the midterm exam and 60% of the final exam are counted. |

Facilities |
Courses are held by qualified lecturers who have mastered in their own profession. In addition, there is an equipped computer laboratory where lecturers shall use computer programmes. Practices such as museums and rituals are being created for practice in nearby areas for courses that require application.
