It is a Higher Education program that trains technical personnel who, as a member of a fire brigade, take precautions against fires, who are involved in fire extinguishing and rescue of life and property from fire, and who will make search, rescue and first aid interventions in events that occur as a result of natural disasters other than fire.
Civil Defense and Firefighting Department was opened at the Executive Board Meeting of the Council of Higher Education on 27/12/2017, and it was planned to admit students in Iğdır Vocational School in 2018, but it was not realized, and it ihad planned to recruit students in the 2019-2020 academic year. |
Qualification Awarded |
Students who successfully complete the program receive the titles of Civil Defense and Fire Technician, Firefighter, Search and Rescue Technician, Fire Safety Staff, Occupational Safety and Occupational Health Technician, Distributor, Insurance Expert, Emergency Aid and Sanitary Personnel with their associate degree diploma. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
Being a high school or equivalent vocational school graduate and having the right to register as a result of the ÖSYS exam. Not having any health problems that will prevent the profession of Civil Defense and Firefighting. |
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
Applications to the program with lateral transfer and the number of vacancies; After being determined by the Board of Directors of the Vocational School, it is notified to the Rectorate at the latest one month before the start of each semester, decided by the Senate and announced. Considering the equivalence condition, the relevant Executive Board decides which courses will be exempted from students who have previously studied at a higher education institution. |
Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
The student must have passed all the courses in the program and must not have an FF, FD or DZ grade. In this program, the student must provide a minimum of 120 ECTS credits and a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. All students studying at Iğdır University Civil Defense and Firefighting Program are obliged to do an internship for 30 working days during their 2-year education. |

Access to Further Studies |
Upon successful completion of this program, students can graduate from ÖSYM if they wish.
By entering the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) to be held by
they can continue their undergraduate studies. Graduate students; they can make a vertical transition to the "social work", "social services" Emergency Aid and Disaster Management programs of the faculties. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc.) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is obligatory to get at least 50 points from the final exam and 60 points in average. Students who get one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course are deemed to have succeeded in that course. |

In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS), to achieve a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00, and to successfully complete the internship application. |
