General Informations
Giresun only consisted of the city centre, Tirebolu and Görele counties and Bulancak, Keşap and Espiye towns connected to the counties until the city of Şebinkarahisar ceased to be a city and the Center of Şebinkarahisar and Alucra counties joined Giresun city. With the establishment of the counties of Bulancak in 1942, Keşap in 1945, Espiye in 1957, Dereli in 1958, Eynesil 1960, Piraziz and Yağlıdere in 1987, Çanakçı, Güce, Doğankent and Çamoluk in 1990, the number of counties raised to 15.

City Center:Is founded on a peninsula stretching towards the sea between the Valleys of Aksu and Batlama. The only island of the Eastern Black Sea, Giresun Adası stands to the east of the peninsula, 2 km to the coast.
