Practical Information for Mobile Students
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation to Iğdır is provided by airway and highway. When the Nahcivan - Iğdır - Kars railway project, which is in the project phase, is completed, the national network and international networks will also be connected by railway. Regular bus services from cities such as Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir, Bursa, Adana, Samsun, Trabzon, Erzurum, Van and Diyarbakir to Igdır are being carried out. With the opening of the airport in Iğdır in July 2012, there are direct mutual flights between Ankara, Istanbul and Igdır.
CLIMATE
Iğdır's climate type is Eastern Anatolia Terrestrial Climate. The plains of the city are not affected much by the severe black climate seen in the other parts of the Eastern Anatolia Region. The most important reason for this is that it is low compared to the high areas like Ağrı Mountain which is located in the vicinity. The average annual temperature in Igdir, which is located in Iğdır Plain which forms microclimate in the position of cloak, is 11,6 ° C. However, this is only 4.2 ° C in Kars, which is only 170 km away. winters are softer than Erzurum-Kars highland, summer is longer and warmer. Temperatures in the city range from -30 ° C in winter to 41 ° C in summer. It is one of the places with the lowest rainfall in Turkey due to its nook. CURRENCY
Turkey's currency is the Turkish Lira and it is used in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 TL banknotes and 5, 10, 25 & 50 and 1 TL Kuruş.
STUDENT VISA AND RESIDENCE PERMIT
Foreign students are required to obtain a valid student visa by going to the nearest Turkish consulate in their country with the letter of acceptance they received from Iğdır University before coming to Turkey. All foreign students are required to obtain a "Residence Permit" from the Foreigners Department of the Security Directorate. According to the law, foreign students have to get a residence permit within one month after entering Turkey.
ORIENTATION PROGRAM
This program aims to introduce Iğdır University's academic, social, cultural and physical opportunities to exchange students. In this program; Students are provided with the necessary information for new orientation and environmental awareness, information about campus tours, faculties, departments, meeting with student activities and meeting other students. Within the Orientation Program, students are presented with the Iğdır University Introductory Brochure, materials introducing Turkey and Iğdır, and information for practical living.
