Second Cycle
Objectives of the Course
1. To increase the students’ knowledge levels about shrub vegetations 2. To create awareness that there was also important feed resources such as trees and shrubs in natural and semi-natural vegetations, besides conventional food sources (grass pasture, fodder crops and farm residues) 3. To create awareness that shrub species can resist to extreme ecological factors drought occurring in summer period 4. To create awareness that incorrect land use policy in shrub vegetations increased to the desertification risk and soil erosion in the available areas 5. To gain experience how shrub vegetation have an important role in terms of soil erosion prevention and the animal breeding 6. To create knowledge that management and rehabilitation techniques must be applied as in the grassland in shrub vegetations, too. 7. To produce practical methods and to gain skills for the problem solving 8. To create knowledge about grazing preferences and the growth patterns of shrub species 9. To improve their necessary levels of infrastructure in scientific studies.

Course Contents
The course contents is create awareness that besides conventional food sources (grass pasture, fodder crops and farm residues), there was also important feed resources such as trees and shrubs in natural and semi-natural vegetations, that leaves and fruits of tree and shrub species played a role as the source of important nutrients for feeding goats, sheep, cattle, deer and wild animals, during the critical summer period in semi-arid and sub-humid environments, that these shrubs and trees growing in arid and semi-arid ecosystems are durable to extreme drought occurring in summer period owing to the strong root system and vigorous sprouts from the stump and the roots and therefore, play an important role in supplying the fodder for animals at the absence of grass-pasture. Also, other aim of course is to present the nutritional value of these and the important shrub species spreading in our country and world.
