Objectives of the Course
Establishment of democratic parliamentary life in Turkey will be discussed in detail.

Learning Outcomes
1Will be able to analyze the concept of democracy, its development and application in the world. Will be able to analyze how the Constitutional System was established in the Ottoman Empire. Will be able to discuss the developments during the World War and their effects on the parliamentary system. Will be able to analyze the process that prepared the opening of the last Ottoman Parliament. Understand the role of the revolution that started in Anatolia in the transition to the parliamentary system. Will be able to analyze the conditions that prepared the meeting of the National Assembly. Will be able to analyze the stages of the transition to the Republican administration. Understands the difference between the Constitutions of 1921 and 1924 and illustrates how the state was restructured. Will be able to compare the experiences of the Terakkiperver Republic Party and the Free Republic Party.

Democratic developments starting from the last period of the Ottoman Empire until 1950 are examined.

10Republican People's Party and domestic political developments.
11The establishment of the Democrat Party and the transition to multi-party life.
