Objectives of the Course
To introduce family sociology and family institution; To inform about the Turkish family structure; discussing issues such as family problems, the value of the child, women's issues.To inform students about family therapy for disadvantaged families. Individual, family, community and society; Informing them about existing or potential problems and getting help so that they can continue their lives in order, health and harmony

1Understands the importance of the family, which is the basis of society, tells its functions and types.
2Knows the changes in the family throughout history, lists the family types in Turkey.
3Distinguish the changes that occur in the structure and functions of the family in parallel with the social changes.
4Define types of marriage
5Establishes a relationship between industrialization and changes in family structure and divorces
6Defines family treatment and therapy
7Explain the history and techniques of family therapy,
8Defines the relationship between family therapy and social work
9Applies therapy to elderly, disabled, sick individuals and their caregivers in the family
10Defines individual, group and couple therapy methods and techniques

Definition of family, origin and emergence, history and functions. Family structure and types, Child education in the family, Changes in the family with modernization. Structural features of Turkish family and family relations. family and place relationship, marriage customs and traditions, types of marriage, gender roles, women's status, domestic problems/violence, incest. The concept and scope of family therapy. History of family therapy and treatment models; family therapy techniques
