Objectives of the Course |
The general aim of this course is to make students be aware of metalanguage. More specifically, it is aimed to provide students with basic knowledge on the functioning and structure of language by teaching the basic terminology related to language and linguistics. |

Course Contents |
In this course, subjects including language, linguistics, and the sub-fields of linguistics are taught. At this stage, it is considered sufficient for students to recognize the basic linguistic fields/concepts, methods, goals and objectives and to be able to explain them in English language. To attain these goals, in addition to discussing the origin and features of human language, the sub-fields of linguistics such as phonology, phonetics, morphology, syntax and semantics are presented and discussed. |
