Learning Outcomes
1Know the basic concepts specific to written and visual narratives.
2Able to compare the characteristics of literary works with those used in the language of cinema.
3Able to analyze the social and cultural background of the work by considering the reflections of the literary works in cinema.
4Able to synthesize the knowledge gained regarding the literary works and their film adaptations.
5Able to provide original criticism towards the literary works and their film adaptations through oral and written form.

The participants are expected to have obtained An Introduction to Criticism Literature, Film, Culture by Michael Ryan/ Wiley Blackwell and scrutinize the book. Course Contents
The course will cover such themes as the relationship between literature and cinema, general history of art of movie and filmmaking, critique of representation and adaptation theory, examples of literary/cultural movies and their connection with literary movements.
