| Level of Course Unit | First Cycle | Objectives of the Course | The objective of this course is to give base information about subtropical fruits including citrus (orange, mandarins, lemon, grapefruit) in addition olive, tea, kiwifruit, persimmon, pomegranate, loquat, banana to students. For this reason the origin of species, differences from the other fruit species, distribution of species over the world, world production, the used cultivars, the ecological needs of species (climate and soil), propagation techniques, pollination and fertilization biology, the properties that important in breeding studies, orchard design and management are given. | Name of Lecturer(s) | | Learning Outcomes | 1 | Obtained knowladge about subtropical fruits can be transferred to the farmers. | 2 | The differences of subtropical fruits from the other fruit species and differences in cultivation is the one of the main thema of this course. For this reason the modern cultivation techniques will be priority in this course. Obtained knowladge about berries can be transferred to the farmers. | 3 | Farmers can be informed more knowladge on how they grow more productive and quality subtropical fruits. |
