Objectives of the Course
The aim of the course is to provide students with an insight in the crop growth, origin, evolution, plant characteristics and agronomy of warm season cereals and to teach how the interactions of these factors affect production.

Course Contents
This course covers maize (Zea mays L.), rice (Oryza sativa L.), millets (Sorghum ssp., Panicum ssp., Seteria italica L.) and canary grass (Phalaris canariensis L.) crops. Introduction to cool season cereals: Economic importance, adaptation, morphology, physiology, storage, and standardization. Individual crop details: Economic importance, origins, cytogenetics, taxonomy, Turkish varieties, standardization, adaptation, growing techniques, diseases and pests
