Objectives of the Course
It is aimed that students know the morphological and cultural characteristics, metabolism, genetics, inter-microorganisms, microorganisms, environment and organism relations, the isolation and identification of microorganisms and their transmission routes to humans, the properties of chemotherapeutics and disinfectants, and antimicrobial susceptibility tests of microorganisms that cause infectious diseases that they may encounter during their education and professional life.

Learning Outcomes
1To gain knowledge about microbiology and parasitology, to gain the ability to transfer this knowledge to nursing practice.
2They will be able to take biological samples (blood, urine, etc.) of the patients.
3Visible parasites Ascaris lumbricoides, Taenia saginata ring, E. vermicularis vs. will be able to recognize parasites.
4They will prepare the perianal material sample and use the cellophane tape method.
5They will be able to define parasitic infections seen in the region.

Course Contents
Basic concepts in microbiology, bacterial cell structure, physiology, reproduction and genetics, antibiotic action and resistance mechanisms, sterilization-disinfection, basic concepts in immunology, basic immune response mechanism, hypersensitivity reactions, serological tests, examination of fungi, protozoa, helminths and viruses.
