Objectives of the Course |
At the end of this course, the student will learn the process of collecting scientific information and data, the basic forms and characteristics of scientific knowledge; the concepts of science, social science and sociology; the organization of health and illness relations in today's society; health-culture, individual and society interaction (processes, strategies, forms and results of the socialization process in the life cycle); group, organization, forms of social control and social stratification; understands how basic social institutions such as economy and business life, family and marriage, health and education, under the influence of current trends and developments, are positioned in a larger whole, positions and interprets their own life experience. |

Development of Health Sociology as a Discipline; Disease Phenomenon, History of the Disease, Main Factors Affecting the Disease; Relationship between Disease-Health and Social, Cultural, Economic and Political Structure; Health and Disease in the Context of Social Class and Inequalities; Health Theory (Theoretical Approaches); Examples of research conducted in the field of health sociology in Turkey and their evaluation. |
