Objectives of the Course
Recognition of basic power electronic components, gain the necessary knowledge and skills to operate basic power electronics circuits using power electronic components

Learning Outcomes
1Diode, thyristor, triac, power transistor, MOSFET, IGBT, GTO, MCT, etc. know the properties of semiconductor elements.
2 Design protection circuits and drive circuits.
3 Design phase control circuits and draw the generated waveforms.
4 Knows the operation of single-phase diode rectifiers, can draw input and output waveforms for different loads
5 Knows the operation of single-phase thyristor rectifiers, can draw input and output waveforms for different loads.
6 Knows the operation of 3 phase uncontrolled and controlled rectifiers, can draw input and output waveforms for different loads.
7Analyze rectifier input currents, calculate total harmonic distortion (THD) and power factors.

Course Contents
Application areas of power electronics circuits and power electronics components. Introducing the transmission cutting characteristics of power electronic components (power diode, thyristor, BJT, MOSFET, IGBT, GTO, MCT, TRIYAK) and comparison of their performance. One-phase uncontrolled rectifier circuits. One-phase thyristor controlled and bridgeless rectifier circuits. Three-phase uncontrolled rectifier circuits. Three-phase thyristor controlled and bridgeless circuits. Rectifier circuits operating in eversion mode. One-phase and three-phase rectifier circuits welding self effect (commanding). One-phase alternating current choppers, static VAR systems. Three-phase alternating current choppers. Introduction of methods for reducing switching losses (SS, ZCS, ZVS, ZCT, ZVT) .Frequency converters. One- and three-phase two-level inverters (2L). Three-level inverters (3L inverter).
