Objectives of the Course
To understand the importance of medicinal plants in the world and in Turkey, to reveal their place in the world and Turkey trade, to introduce the plants in this group, to teach general cultivation techniques, to introduce medicinal plants that have economic importance especially for Turkey and to teach their culture.

Learning Outcomes
1To be able to recognize medicinal and aromatic plants in their natural environment.
2To be able to identify diseases and pests in the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants and to carry out studies on combating them.
3To be able to harvest medicinal and aromatic plants.
4To be able to carry out the processes of drying and storing the plants collected as green.
5To be able to take part in the sales and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants.

8Secondary plant substances and their variability.
9Essential oils and their properties
10Importance, herbal characteristics, cultivation techniques and usage areas of some plants (dill, coriander, fennel, anise) included in the Apiaceae family
11The importance, herbal characteristics, cultivation techniques and usage areas of some plants (chamomile, pyrethrum) included in the Asteraceae famiya.
12Importance, herbal characteristics, cultivation techniques and usage areas of some plants (mint, thyme) included in the Lamiaceae family.
13Introduction and cultivation techniques of sage plant belonging to Lamiaceae family and some important medicinal plants (nigella sativa) included in other families.
14Term project presentations.
