Objectives of the Course
The aim of General Chemistry course is to teach students basic chemical terms, concepts, increase basic chemistry knowledge and analytical thinking skills

Learning Outcomes
1To be able to comprehend the historical development of atomic models, to understand the concepts of atom, mole and compound.
2To understand the properties of the periodic table and to have information about the elements
3To understand the concept of moles, to be able to calculate moles, to solve simple formula problems
4Understanding chemical reactions, writing chemical equations, balancing chemical equations, solving cytoichiometry problems by learning calculations based on chemical equations
5To be able to distinguish chemical bonds from each other, to understand bond strengths and the relationship between bond types and atomic type, to understand the relationship between intermolecular forces and physical properties of compounds.
6To be able to define solution and solution types, to understand the phenomenon of dissolution and solubility, to define solution concentration and concentration units, to solve simple problems related to concentration.
7To understand the concepts of acid-base and the difference between them, to explain the concept of pH, its importance and how it is calculated, to have knowledge about buffer solutions
8To be able to explain concepts such as energy, heat, enthalpy and entropy, to learn the laws of thermodynamics
9To be able to classify and name organic compounds, to understand the relationships between the structure of organic compounds and their physical properties.
