Objectives of the Course
It is aimed with this course that, students will have knowledge about direct current machines, structures and working principles of transformers and make calculations in different mode of operation and evaluate these results.

1Explanation of the structure, types and working principle of DC machines.
2Armature reaction and commutation in DC machines.
3Explanation of DC machines operating as dynamo and motor.
4Investigation of operating characteristics of dynamos in idle and different loads.
5Study of DC motors' operation experiments and their characteristics at idle and different loads.
6Calculation of losses, efficiency and momentum in DC machines.
7Structure and working principle of single and three phase transformers.
8Transformer connections, equivalent circuit drawing and calculation of equivalent circuit elements.
9Midterm Examination of idle operation experiment and characteristics of transformers.
10Study of transformer short circuit and operation tests and characteristics of different loads.
11Regulation account for transformers.
12Calculation of loss and efficiency in transformers.
13Demonstration of the use of a transformer in a three-phase supply.
14Explanation of star, triangle and Zig-zag connection groups of three-phase transformer windings.
