Objectives of the Course
The aim of the course is to enable students to learn the concepts of science, scientific research, ethics and publication ethics, scientific research methods, use of publications, research, citation, plagiarism, self-plagiarism and other violations and sanctions to be applied in the presence of these violations.

11.Explains the basic concepts of scientific research. 2.Defines science and scientific knowledge. 3.Explains the functions of scientific knowledge. 4.Interpret the aims of scientific knowledge. 5.Explains the stages of a scientific research. 6. Recognises the characteristics of the research problem. 7. Explains the characteristics of quantitative and qualitative research approaches. 8. Compares quantitative and qualitative research approaches. 9. Recognises data collection tools. 10.Compare data collection tools according to research purposes. 11. Recognises data analysis techniques. 12. Have the knowledge and equipment to interpret a scientific research and design and carry out a small research. 13. Analyses and interprets a scientific research. 14. Designs a small scientific research. 15. Carries out the designed research. 16. Report his/her research. 17. Recognises ethical rules in scientific research. 18. Pay attention to ethical rules in his/her research. 19. Develops a positive attitude towards science and scientific research.

Definition of science and scientific research, the issue of originality in scientific works and basic concepts of scientific research, methods that can be applied in scientific research, research of printed publications and use of databases and access to reliable sources on the internet, ethics and publication ethics, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, other violations and sanctions.
