Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable students to; It is to have knowledge about laboratory-scale systems in which microalgae and cyanobacteria are produced.

Within the scope of this course, students; Information about laboratory scale microalgae production systems is given.

2Culture types according to harvesting systems: batch, continuous and semi-continuous cultures.
3Axenic, monoalgal, and mixed cultures. Advantages and disadvantages, usage areas.
4Determination of Cell Density: Dry weight, optical density, chlorophyll-a, counting methods etc.
5Flowcytometer: Working principle, counting and use in isolation.
6Storage of algal stocks
7Inoculum preparation. Determination of inoculum concentration.
8Mid-term Exam
9Laboratory scale culture systems, photobioreactors and problems encountered.
10Laboratory-scale optimization trials and examination of case studies.
11Usage areas of microalgae
12Appropriate system selection for the usage areas of microalgae
