Objectives of the Course
To learn about the mechanical behavior of materials under different loads. To learn the mechanical behavior of metals, ceramics, polymers and composites. To understand the stress / strain and the resulting deformation / fracture behavior in materials.

1Will be able to explain the importance of mechanical properties of materials in engineering design, in the field of Materials Science and Engineering and in industrial applications.
2Will be able to express information about the basic concepts of fracture mechanics in their own words.
3Will be able to evaluate mechanical behavior, measurements of mechanical properties and test methods.
4Will be able to explain the increase of strength and toughness in materials.
5Will be able to explain the thermal behavior of materials and high temperature applications.
6Will be able to analyze mechanical decays.
7Will be able to have general information about the effect of material structure on mechanical behavior.
