Objectives of the Course |
To learn about the mechanical behavior of materials under different loads. To learn the mechanical behavior of metals, ceramics, polymers and composites. To understand the stress / strain and the resulting deformation / fracture behavior in materials. |

1 | Will be able to explain the importance of mechanical properties of materials in engineering design, in the field of Materials Science and Engineering and in industrial applications. | 2 | Will be able to express information about the basic concepts of fracture mechanics in their own words. | 3 | Will be able to evaluate mechanical behavior, measurements of mechanical properties and test methods. | 4 | Will be able to explain the increase of strength and toughness in materials. | 5 | Will be able to explain the thermal behavior of materials and high temperature applications. | 6 | Will be able to analyze mechanical decays. | 7 | Will be able to have general information about the effect of material structure on mechanical behavior. |
