Objectives of the Course |
This course aims at analyzing the main social dynamics, axes of conflict, historical continuities and discontinuities, and the main problematics of Turkish politics. Using a theoretical and historical perspective, the course covers a period starting from the 19th century Ottoman Empire up until the 2000s. |

1 | Students shall - have a scientific approach for analyzing the main dynamics, processes and historical development of Turkish political life;
| 2 | - learn to analyze Turkish political life in relation social class, identity and gender relations;

| 4 | - learn to use main concepts and issues of political science such as class, identity, gender, state, political ideologies, political parties, political regimes etc. Through the ampirical case of Turkish history. |

Course Contents |
This course covers a period starting from the 19th century Ottoman Empire up until the 2000s. It focuses on the formation of modern political sphere and analyzes in relation with class, gender, cultural identities based power relations. It also focuses, for each sub-period, to the specific ideologies, social movements that were influential. Using a theoretical and historcial perspective of analyzes the course aims to discuss different theoretical approaches in the analysis of Turkish political life. |
