Objectives of the Course

XI-XIV. To teach the characteristics, representatives and works of Classical Turkish literature between the centuries.

Learning Outcomes

1	Learns the changes in Turkish literature with the acceptance of Islam and uses the sources of Islamic period Turkish literature.
2	Comprehends the literary personalities and works of figures such as Yusuf Has Hacib, Kaşgarlı Mahmud, Edib Ahmed, Ahmed Yesevî and Hakim Süleyman Ata.
3	Gains detailed information about the poets and their works in the establishment phase of classical Turkish literature.
4	XI-XIV. learns about the political, cultural and literary life that took place between the centuries.
5	To have knowledge of poets who played a role in foundation phase of Divan literature.

Course Contents

A Brief Overview of the Literature of the Turks Before the Adoption of Islam; The first works given in the new cultural and literary environment that started to be formed with the acceptance of Islam by the Turks; XI-XII. major works written between the centuries; XIII. Turkish literature and the first poets that started to emerge in Anatolia in the century; XIV. century old Turkish Literature; XIV. The features of the 19th century Turkish literature, the important representatives of this period and the examination of sample verse-prose texts from the works of these representatives: Yunus Emre, Şeyyad Hazma, Kadı Burhaneddin, Hoca Mesud, Ahmedi, Nesimi; XIII-XIV. Reading and analysis studies on prose texts belonging to centuries.

9	Turkish literature developed in Anatolia in XIII.th century and it’s features.
10	Hacı Bektâş-ı Velî and his works of art.
11	Mevlânâ Celâleddin and his works of art.
12	Sultan Veled and his works of art.
13	Ahmed Fakih and his Çarh-nâme.
14	Hoca Dehhânî - Şeyyâd Hamza and their works of art.
