The aim of the course is to teach students basic knowledge of literature and enable them to evaluate the texts by using these knowledge.

Course Contents
This course focuses on defining literature, terms of literature, and the relation between society and literature; also focuses on teaching methods of research in literature, trends of literature, knowledge of poem, prose and literary arts, to definition, contain and features of arts skills, variety of literary arts and litarature terms, researching literary arts in divan poetry and explaning of them on texts, finding couplets's aruz metters, finding mazmuns and literary arts on couplets; Prose: Prose in Turkish Literature, Types of Turkish prose, Metaphor, Figurative language, Figures of speech.

2Metaphors from literary arts: analysis on metaphor, simile, irsal-i mesel and sample poems--
3Literary arts: Mecaz-ı mürsel, teşbih, irsal-i mesel and modal poetries.--
4Literary arts: İstiare, kinaye, tariz, tezad, mugalata-i maneviye, tevriye, istihdam and modal poetries--
5Arts related to mana: tauriye, employment, tavcih, tejahül-i arif, istifham and analysis on sample poems--
6Arts related to mana: Diagnosis, husn-i talil, exaggeration, exaggeration, understatement and analysis on sample poems--
7Arts related to mana: repetition, quotation, reincarnation and analysis on sample poems--

9Literary arts: Leff ü neşr, sihr-i halal, iştikak, cinas, kalb and modal poetries--
10Arts related to speech: analysis on iştikak, pun, kalb and sample poems--
